“The Fat and The Beatiful” at the 39 Gallery

Located in 39 Kalamış Marina Hotel, which has made a name for itself with its social responsibility projects, 39 Gallery is hosting an extremely interesting and extraordinary exhibition. Iranian artist Safa Kasaei’s personal painting exhibition named “The Fat and The Beautiful” was presented to art lovers on Monday, May 16.

Safa Kasaei, who made a statement to our magazine about her new exhibition, said the followings: “Vogue, Elle and Fashion have set the new beauty standards for women: ‘Skinny is beautiful’, exerting pressure to diet and conform to the acceptable physical norms. Not too long back these standards were entirely different, plump was desirable, it represented healthy, strong and fertile. My women are confident with their size, not only are they reconciled with their bodies but also revealing their chubbiness in bikinis, as if saying: ‘We too deserve our place under the sun.”

Safa Kasaei, 30, of Azeri origin and born in Tabriz, graduated from Tehran Fine Arts Academy Graphic Department. The artist, who completed her master’s degree at Tabriz Fine Arts University and prefers to use pastel colors in her paintings, tries to show fatness cute with soft lines. Kasaei, who also has sculpture works besides painting, has more than 100 works produced so far.
