The ruins of the historical walls extending to Tavşan Island in Muğla’s Bodrum district were revealed as the sea receded. A natural event that repeats from time to time every year in Bodrum’s Gümüşlük District, known for its historical and natural beauties in Turkey, brings to light the history under the sea.
With the withdrawal of sea water, BC. City walls extending to Mydos (Tavşan) Island, estimated to have been built in the 4th century, are revealed. People who live in the region and holidaymakers who come to the district go to the historical city walls and take photos.
A NATURAL WONDER
Dentist Emin Savaş, who came to the region on holiday with his friends, said that he was very impressed by the view. Savaş stated that he came to Bodrum to see his friends from Istanbul. “When the water recedes, this road reveals itself. There is Rabbit Island opposite, an incredible view. It is a wonder of nature, every part of our country is magnificent,” he said. Müjdat Sungur, who lives in Bodrum, told; “I had a boat in this region, I would row around this island. It is not possible to do this because the water is receding.”
