Festive spirit in Mount Ida: Traditional village feast

A tradition that has been kept alive for many years in the villages of Mount Ida was once again celebrated with great enthusiasm the other day. In Avcılar Village, guests were served keşkek, chickpeas, and rice cooked in large cauldrons in the village square, accompanied by the magnificent view of Edremit Bay.

At the traditional gathering held on Dedepınarı Hill, visitors enjoyed their meals to the sound of drums and zurna, and later sipped tea brewed with spring water from the mountain while engaging in lively conversations. Children, meanwhile, had fun with face painting, clown shows, and games led by Spider-Man.

The biggest applause went to the folk dance performances and the heroic dances of the efes. Local dances seemed to revive the legend of Sarıkız, while scenes from the years of the National Struggle came alive before the guests’ eyes. Blending tradition with festivity in the mystical atmosphere of Mount Ida, the feast became an unforgettable day for both locals and tourists alike.
