Akdamar Island in Lake Van and its historical structures are among the first stops for local and foreign tourists visiting the city. It was announced that approximately 60,000 people visited the island this year.
Reached after about a half-hour journey by boats departing from the piers in Edremit and Gevaş districts, Akdamar Island in Lake Van attracts visitors with its unique scenery in every season.

The island and the Akdamar Memorial Museum (Church), built by King Gagik I of Vaspurakan between 915 and 921, host a large number of tourists. The island, which holds various natural beauties and traces of many civilizations, also welcomes visitors who come to the city during the Eid al-Adha holiday.

In the first five months of this year, around 60,000 local and foreign visitors came to the island, which offers people a chance to spend time in nature with the colorful scenes created by almond trees and the rabbits living there.
