Tourism authorities from 32 countries met in Malta

Tourism authorities, who now have to face difficult times all around the world, came together in Malta, the island of Saint Jean Knights. The Mediterranean Tourism Forum, organized by Mediterranean Tourism Foundation took place in Hilto Malta, between the dates 16th-17th March 2017.

HOSPITALITY OF TOMORROW IN MEDITERRANEAN

Tourism authorities, who came together with the motto “Hospitality of Tomorrow in Mediterranean”, shared the solution suggestions for making the tourism more sustainable in Mediterranean Region. The organisation welcomed around 800 authorities from 32 countries, including FIJET (International Federation of Journalism and Tourism) members.

THE POSSIBILITIES OF COOPERATION WILL BE IMPROVED

The opening speech of the forum was given by Marie Louise Coleiro Preca, the president of Malta. Preca stated that she was extremely happy for hosting such an important international organisation and welcoming its attenders in her country. Preca also added: “Leaders of the tourism will search for cooperation possibilities, discuss the sectoral problems and suggest solutions. This absolutely is an amazing opportunity.”

UNIQUE NATURAL RESOURCES

Dr. Edward Zammit Lewis, The Tourism Minister of Malta Republic, was also among the attenders of the forum. Lewis expressed that the region of Mediterranean is one of the most prosperous places in the world, as it has unique natural resources in addition to delicious cookery, cultural fertileness and impressive traditions.

THE POTENTIAL OF PEACE AND CONSISTENCY

Andrew Agius Muscat, establisher of the Mediterranean Tourism Forum, reported that the region has a perfect potential for building peace and consistency and he added: “The islands around Sicily have agreed on a cooperation for improving the tourism in the region. This union must be a bright example for us.” Muscat also announced that the region will be supported for hosting more activities, to attract more tourists. Muscat finished his speech by expressing that Meditarrenean region will be hosting very important musicals, concerts and cultural organisations in near future.

WHITE SERTIFICATE PACT

Attenders also signed a “White Sertificate Pact” as a part of The Mediterranean Tourism Forum. The pact which aims to increase utilization and productivity in renewable energy also includes to build new solar power farms and an online system which will connect all hotels and restaurants in the region to each other.
