FIJET – World Tourism Writers and Journalists Federation President Tijani Haddad stated that FIJET had to postpone its activities for a while and that the tourism sector was the most affected sector in the world, and wished its members to survive this disaster without deeper wounds. The message published by FIJET President Tijani Haddad is as follows:

“Dear colleagues and friends,

You remember when, very early I reacted, taking into consideration that the magnitude of pandemic of Coronavirus could last very long and consequently I took the decision to postpone FIJET congress in Egypt. My responsibility as President requires me to be careful when it comes to your safety. Today the disastrous epidemic situation in the world is much more worrying, and even more dangerous.

FIJET - World Tourism Writers and Journalists Federation President Tijani Haddad

I urgently ask all our members and members whose countries are going through nightmarish moments losing a large number of parents, friends and fellow citizens to participate with their media in the awareness campaign to encourage the positive behaviour of your fellow citizens towards this pandemic and to help each other to minimize loss of human beings.

Dear colleagues, now we cannot foresee the next steps in this tragedy. That is why we cannot plan the future FIJET activities. However, we must all of us be ready for participating in an international campaign of resilience of our economies, both National and global international economy. Tourism sector is now the worst affected: We must, as soon as possible, join and support all campaigns and initiatives, at the national and international level, for its resilience and its return on the international scene. FIJET has the means and you the nationalism and the competence.”

Tijani Haddad
