FIJET chose Konya for “Golden Apple”
The World Federation of Travel Journalists and Writers (FIJET) chose Turkey’s Konya city for the 2017 Golden Apple Award. Golden Apple, one of the most prestigious awards of the tourism world, is given as a result of evaluating the performances of cities in protecting their cultural and civil heritage. In order to qualify for the award, behaviors that promote peace, tolerance and rapprochement are taken into account together with the commitment to develop high quality tourism.
FIJET WORLD PRESIDENT HADDAD IS COMING
It was announced that the Golden Apple Award to Konya will be given by FIJET World President Tijani Haddad. FIJET World President, FIJET Turkey President Delal Atamdede and FIJET members from many countries will come for the award ceremony to be held in Konya, between 28-30 September 2017. On the other hand, before and after the ceremony there will be bilateral talks and a series of events promoting Turkey and Konya.
REPRESENT A MODEL OF TOURISM DEVELOPMENT
FIJET World President Tijani Haddad stated these followings to TOURMAG Tourism Magazine: “Konya’s awarding with the Golden Apple is seen as a part of the desire to encourage the opening of new horizons as well as the use of the world’s tourism regions in the best possible way. The efforts shown in this bladder are part of the award. Konya represents a model of tourism development in many ways.”

Konya Metropolitan Mayor Tahir Akyürek talked about the Golden Apple; “This award also shows the development of tourism infrastructure in our city. It will be a great contribution to the promotion of Konya abroad especially.”
PROTECTION OF HISTORICAL RICHNESS, INSPIRATION TO THE ARTISTS
FIJET Turkey President Delal Atamdede said; “The remarkable enrichment and diversification of tourism in the region has made Konya an excellent tourist destination visited by more than two million tourists a year”. And he added; “Other features that are considered by FIJET to this important award are the preservation of natural sites, historic richness of the city, and the sublime structure of city that inspires many artists”.
